Pick your own projects for Summer Camps . . . funky sleep mask, personalized pillowcase, appliqued place mat for you or your pet, flippy cute six-gore skirt, big foot pillow, appliqued/quilted princess pillow, quilted hot pad, doll blanket, shirred sundress/skirt, drawstring bag, denim skirt, backpack, 18" doll clothes . . . and more!    The first day of camp will include a trip to a fabric store to pick out fabric and supplies so parents, you don't need to worry about finding time to get to a fabric store before camp and wading through a supply list!

Plan to enter your Sewing Camp projects in the Nevada County Fair this summer -campers last summer came home with ribbons and cash prizes!

NOTES about Fees for Academic Year weekly classes:
$15 annual registration fee (covers machine maintenance and sewing basket notions) payable at first lesson of the academic year
$75/month ($65/mo. for 2nd child in same family) flat rate tuition payable at first lesson of every month beginning in September 2009 for a 90-minute weekly class.
$35 fee for pattern book and sewing directions for 8 projects (enough for academic year)
$18 fee for craft pattern book if you don't already have it (optional, but fun to have to intersperse in between regular projects and around the holidays for gifts)

Notes about Skill Level:
All skill levels from absolute beginner to intermediate will find a niche at The Happy Pin.  I currently have students beginning their third year in a five-year curriculum and students who first sat down in front of a sewing machine just a few months ago.  Each students works independently and small class size (maximum 4 students) ensures personalized instruction and assistance when needed.  Current student ages range from 8 to 40, but I have had younger and I have had older!

Mom & Me Camp
Hey Moms & Daughters - create a special memory together making matching (or not!) tote bags for those trips to the Library, keeping music books together on the way to lessons, being "green" shoppers, keeping "essentials" in one place in the car . . . or, aprons to craft together or have fun in the kitchen together!

Backpack:  Choose 1/2 yard of canvas-type home dec/upholstery fabric, 1 1/2 yards of 1" wide cotton webbing, and any embellishments you want to decorate it with (ribbon, faux fur, iron-on appliques).

Apron:  Buy a solid color tea towel (Ben Franklin or Quilt Shop), coordinating double-fold wide bias tape and 1/2 yd. of fabric for pockets.

Best of all . . . enjoy tea and scones for a 10:30 break!

We are SO proud of our daughter for winning two ribbons at the County Fair using the skills she learned at "The Happy Pin Sewing School!"
SW (mom of EW, age 9)

The class is really nice because you learn a whole bunch of things about sewing - I really liked making a nightie!  And I like making crafts I can take home.
MC, age 8

I love 'Fabrics on Mill Street' and picking out my own fabric!
AA, age 11

I think it is a great class and it's fun for kids to make something they can actually wear!
SC (parent)

I like being able to make clothes for myself!
KN, age 9

I like sewing class because I love to sew!  I want to design wedding dresses when I grow up.
SA, age 8
